Preparing for Monday without losing Sunday evening

Sunday evening can become an unofficial planning meeting conducted alone. Unanswered messages, an uncertain deadline and a difficult conversation keep returning to mind, even when there is no useful action to take that night.

That experience does not establish a cortisol level. It does suggest examining how the working week begins.

Make Monday easier to enter

Before the weekend, identify the first decisions needed on Monday and the information required for them. Give unresolved tasks a next step and an owner. A list that simply restates every concern can leave the same uncertainty in place.

Avoid making the first hour of Monday a collection of unrelated escalations. If an operating review is necessary, circulate the exceptions and decision questions beforehand.

Keep a simple record for several weeks: what occupied Sunday evening, what actually required action and what became easier after preparation on Friday. The aim is to identify a repeatable working arrangement, not to infer a hormonal explanation from a familiar feeling.

Some demands cannot be removed. A genuine crisis may cross the weekend. But if ordinary work creates the same pressure every Sunday, ask which part of the process is leaving people without enough clarity to stop thinking about it.
