From strategy to instruction: checking the handoff

A strategy can sound clear in the leadership meeting and arrive at the next level as a different instruction. One manager hears a request to grow revenue. Another hears a requirement to protect margin. Both may believe they are following the same plan.

The handoff is worth examining before concluding that the team lacks commitment.

Ask for the instruction to be repeated back

After describing a priority, ask the person responsible for delivery to explain the next decision in their own words. What will they do first? What will they stop? Which constraint could prevent progress?

This is a check on the communication as well as the listener. A confused answer may expose a contradiction in the original request.

In traditional Kabbalistic interpretation, Yesod is associated with foundation and transmission. As a leadership analogy, it directs attention to the connection between an intention and its expression. The practical test remains the work itself, rather than a claim about a hidden mechanism.

Record the agreed result, owner and limits of authority. Provide a route for questions that arise after the meeting. A leader who invites clarification and then treats every question as resistance makes the channel less useful.

At the next review, examine where the instruction changed. That gives the team a specific handoff to improve instead of another general request to communicate more clearly.
